Obituary of William Norwood Wheeler

Please share a memory of William to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

William “Bill” Norwood Wheeler, husband of Leigh Ann Evans Wheeler, died unexpectedly on July 16, 2018 – the morning of his 60th birthday. He was the son of Ova Norwood Wheeler and is greeted in heaven by his mother, Marlene Riggle Wheeler. Bill is survived by his loving wife, Leigh Ann, and three children – John, Jennifer, and David. Bill was the proud grandfather of Jack, Ella Grace, Emma, and soon-to-be Sophia. He is undoubtedly holding his granddaughter, Lily, who awaited her grandfather’s embrace in heaven. Bill is survived by brothers Tim and Chris, and sister Rebecca Spalding Wheeler. Bill was born in Ashland, KY, but called Greenville, South Carolina, home. He spent parts of his adult life touching lives in Winston-Salem, NC, Michigan City, IN, Sebring, FL, and New Orleans, LA.

Bill received his undergraduate degree from Piedmont Bible College and his Master’s in Biblical Counseling from Grace Theological Seminary. He spent the majority of his career as a Biblical Family & Marriage Counselor. He possessed an unparalleled wisdom and intellect that left those he worked with changed forever, and those he worked around in awe. Despite the powerful impact of healing that he facilitated for so many, his greatest accomplishment is found in those he led to Christ. He created believers and followers of Jesus, and for that we know he is being rewarded.

Above all, Bill was a man who loved his family. The love for his wife was deep and true, the love for his children selfless and unwavering, and the love for his grandchildren the kind of love that only a proud grandfather can provide. He loved hard and he loved real. And he was loved – loved so greatly that words are simply inadequate to detail.

Bill once said that one of his greatest honors was to be with be with fellow disciples of Christ as they transitioned to their eternal home. He had no fear of the end – his faith was too strong for that. He now partakes in the beauty of his new home. He will be missed, but not forgotten – too many lives were altered by his presence on earth for that to happen. Bye, Husband. Bye, Dad. Bye, Granddaddy. Bye, Friend. We love you.
