Obituary of Leon Virgil "LV" Davis

Leon Virgil “LV” Davis, 83, passed away on Wednesday August 15, 2018.

Born in Pelzer, SC on February 7, 1935, he was the son of the late William F. “Sonny” Davis and Lillie Mae Chandler and the husband of Ruth K. Davis. He was a member of Fork Shoals Baptist Church where he belonged to the Men’s Bible Class and participated in the Men on Missions outreach program, rebuilding homes and churches. Leon enjoyed gardening, raising quail, and being “Poppy” to his girls. He was a veteran in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War and was a life member and the last living founder of the Belmont Fire Department where he was the 2002 recipient of the Order of the Silver Crescent for outstanding community and fire service. The Belmont Fire Department Leon V. Davis Training Center was built, and dedicated in May of 2014. He belonged to the Hejaz Shrine Club and the Shriners Hospital, and was a life member of the Mauldin Empire Lodge #213.    

In addition to his wife, Leon is survived by his daughter, Debbie Bolds; a brother, Foye Davis (Candy); and grandchildren, Taylor Bolds and Caitlyn Bolds. He was preceded in death by a son, Billy Davis; and a sister, Gina Mae Davis.

Funeral Services will be held at 1pm on Saturday at Fork Shoals Baptist Church with Rev. Jay Howard officiating.  Interment will follow in Greenville Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends 5-7 pm Friday at Fletcher Funeral Service.
