Obituary of David Randolph Willmon
David Randolph Willmon, of Simpsonville and formerly of Huntsville, AL, passed away on Sunday September 16, 2018 at MUSC in Charleston. Born in Casablanca, Morocco on March 8, 1954, he was the son of the late Jesse Conrad Willmon and Jeannine Willmon Randolph as well as the husband of Keren Roper Willmon. As the son of missionaries, he spent most of his childhood in Beirut, Lebanon. David had a career in the printing business in Alabama, Virginia, and South Carolina. He was an active member of Standing Springs Baptist Church where he taught Bible studies and directed musical and drama productions. David had a gentle and humble spirit and never met a stranger. He was a skilled piano player and loved all things music, especially the gospel hymns. He was known by his family as a Bible scholar and spent much of his time in the Word of God and praying for others. He enjoyed cooking, gardening, writing, Middle Eastern food, and Alabama Crimson Tide football.
In addition to his wife, David is survived by his sons, Nathaniel Willmon (Caroline) of Birmingham, AL, Adam Willmon (Victoria) of Huntsville, AL, and Joshua Willmon of Dixon, TN; step-sons, Matthew Willis (Brandi) of Easley, SC and Nathan Willis (Alee) of New Orleans, LA; brothers, Stephen Willmon of Birmingham, AL, Jonathan Willmon (Debbie) of Fultondale, AL, and Mark Willmon of Montgomery, AL; as well as grandchildren, Colton, Emma, Ella, and Adalynn Willmon; and step-grandchildren, Ryan, Reagan, Jacob, Chase, and Riley Willis.
The funeral service for David Willmon will be held at Standing Springs Baptist Church on Saturday, September 22nd at 11AM, with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church, beginning at 10AM.
