Obituary of Alvin Whitaker, Jr

Dewey Alvin Whitaker, Jr., 82, husband of Sarah Alice Parker Whitaker for 59 years, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, July 13, 2019.

Mr. Whitaker was born in Greenville to the late Dewey Alvin “Duck” Whitaker, Sr. and Inell Grice Whitaker.  He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps and a charter member of Five Forks Baptist Church, where he sang in the church quartet, taught Sunday school, and served as Chairman of the Deacons.  Alvin sang in the Greenville Textile Chorale and was a volunteer for Meals-On-Wheels.  He was a huge Clemson fan.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, is a son, Terry Whitaker and wife Joyce; a daughter, Lori Jill Seay and husband Marshall; a brother, Tony Whitaker and wife Sandy; four grandchildren, Hayden Calvert, Maria Whitaker, SGT Ruston Calvert, and Dawson Whitaker; and other family members, Suzanne Seay, Kevin Seay and wife Blythe, Savannah, Alana, Bryson, McKenna and husband Chad, Adalyn, McKinley, Aaron and wife Misty, Brooke, Mattie, Aiden, and Emmaleah.

Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Fletcher Funeral Service.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Five Forks Baptist Church, officiated by Dr. Howard Foster.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
