Obituary of Fortuna Petronila Hatton Cordero Melo

Fortuna Petronila Hatton Cordero Melo, 59, wife of Fernando Antonio Melo Ortiz for 35 years, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 24, 2019.

Mrs. Melo was born in Bani, Dominican Republic to Dolores Cordero and the late Felipe Rafael Hatton Valito.  She was an alumna of O&M College.  Fortuna’s greatest joy in life was her family and being “mama” to her grandchildren.

Surviving, in addition to her husband and her mother, are four daughters, Stefany Melo and husband Wilman, Mario Melo and husband Cristian, Sarah Melo and husband Ermis, and Laurent Melo; four brothers, Fidencio Hatton, Lucas Hatton, Isidro Hatton and Valentin Hatton; a sister, Lucia Hatton; and ten grandchildren, Kelany Reyes, Fernando Melo, Brian Figueroa, Jayden Portes, Liam Castillo, Izabella Atkinson, Sofia Ramirez, Crismarie Castillo, Sarai Lopez, and Fiorella Castillo.

A Celebration of Fortuna’s Life will be 6 p.m. Friday at Fletcher Funeral Service, officiated by Lucia Hatton and Gissel Soto.
