Obituary of Adger Armstrong
Adger “Sonny” Armstrong Jr., 78, husband of Sue Emerson Armstrong for 58 years, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, August 22, 2019.
Mr. Armstrong was born in Laurens to the late Adger Armstrong Sr. and Nettie Vaughn Armstrong. He retired from Woodside Mills and was a member of Simpsonville Masonic Lodge #311. Sonny enjoyed dirt track racing, fishing, tinkering, and the outdoors. He never met a stranger. His greatest love was his grandbabies. Sonny was a long-time member of Standing Springs Baptist Church.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are a son, Joey Armstrong and wife Shelley; a daughter, Donna Armstrong Wood and husband Zak; four sisters and their husbands, Pat and Jerry Boyce, Linda and Doyle Williams, Brenda and Jimmy Tolbert, and Elaine and Steve Davenport; and two grandchildren, Brooklyn Wood and Ansley Wood. He was predeceased by a son, Kevin Armstrong.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Monday at Standing Springs Baptist Church, officiated by Rev. Jordan Cobb and Rev. Danny Burnley. Burial, with Masonic Rites, will be in Cannon Memorial Park. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service.
