Obituary of Marie Shirley Maxwell

Marie Shirley Maxwell, 76, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, December 4, 2019.  

 

Ms. Maxwell was born in Richmond, VA to the late James Lee Shirley and Hazel Gertrude Banks Shirley.   She retired from Mack Molding Company and later worked many years at the Simpsonville Bi-Lo.  She enjoyed deep-sea fishing and reading.  She was a huge Clemson Tiger fan and collected lighthouses and boats.

 

Surviving are a son, Doug “worm” Maxwell; two daughters, Sonya “peanut” Maxwell-Ellis and husband Jerry, and Rita Rochester and husband Tommy; a special daughter, Teresa Howard; two special sons, Jack M. Smith and Eddie Shirley; two brothers, J.R. Shirley and Clarence “pee-wee” Shirley; a sister, Faye  Hunter and husband Donnie; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by a son, James “shorty” Mawxell; three sisters, Pat Phillips, Linda Cummings, and Sue Dacus; and her beloved dog “Lil Zee.”  

 

Funeral services will be 4 p.m. Sunday at Fletcher Funeral Service, officiated by Rev. Steve Waddelowand Rev. Dean Storer.  Burial will be 12 noon Monday at Graceland West Cemetery.  The family will receive friends immediately following the service.

 

To honor Mom, please dress casually when attending the service.

 

Memorials may be made to the Greenville County Cancer Society, 154 Milestone Way, Greenville, SC 29615.

 

The family is at the home of Jerry and Sonya Ellis, 3525 Greenpond Road in Woodruff.
