Obituary of Irene Whitmire Smith

Irene Whitmire Smith, 85, wife of Charles Wade Smith for 66 years, went to be with the Lord, Thursday, October 8, 2020. Mrs. Smith was born in Fountain Inn to the late Crawford “Cricket” Whitmire and Gladys Jennings Whitmire. She was a member of Hillside Baptist Church and loved to read and donate to various charities. Surviving, in addition to her husband are two sons, Everett Smith and Carl Smith (Gail); a daughter, Becky Peters; five grandchildren, April Gross (Kurt), Brandy Lowery (Samuel), Kevin Smith, Brittany Ware (Mac) and Shawna Stone and ten great-grandchildren, Tristan Gross, Nathan Gross, Skyler Collier, Kayla Collier, Bonnie Collier, Dylan Smith, Aiden Gross, Isaac Stone, Mackenzie Ware and Ashlynn Lowery. She was predeceased by a brother, Buddy Whitmire. Funeral Services will be 2pm Monday at Hillside Baptist Church, officiated by Rev. Sean Sellars. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
