Obituary of Heyward Arthur Garrison

Heyward Arthur Garrison, 93, husband of the late Mary Ellen Sheriff Garrison, went to be with the Lord on Friday, November 27, 2020. Mr. Garrison was born in Greenville to the late Arthur S. Garrison and Kathleen Batson Garrison. He retired from J.P. Stevens. He was a member of West Gantt First Baptist Church and the American Bantam Association. Heyward raised and showed bantam chickens for over 60 years and was known as “The King” on FaceBook. Surviving are a son, Steve Garrison and wife Kathleen; a daughter, Sheila Messer and husband Nelson; five grandchildren, Brandy Hood and husband Keith, Jill Joseph and husband Johnroy, Justin Messer, Seth Garrison and Sam Garrison; and four great-grandchildren, Austin Page, Taylor Hood, Collin Hood and Asa Joseph. He was predeceased by a son, Billy Garrison; and two brothers, Horace Garrison and Henry Garrison. Mr. Garrison will lie in repose from 2-5 pm Monday at Fletcher Funeral Service. Funeral services will be 1 o’clock Tuesday at Fletcher Funeral Service, followed by entombment in the mausoleum at Graceland East Memorial Park. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service.
