Obituary of Callie Ruth Mayfield

Callie Ruth Mayfield, 91, died December 9, 2020 and is now celebrating in Heaven and reunited with her loved ones and many friends. Ms. Callie Ruth was born in Simpsonville to the late Frank League Mayfield and Annie Thomas Mayfield and was a graduate of Simpsonville High School, Class of 1946. She was predeceased by brothers Lloyd Mayfield, James Mayfield, Hugh Mayfield, and a sister Sara Mayfield Hendrix. Ms. Callie Ruth is survived by many caring nieces and nephews. Ms. Callie Ruth was a lifelong member of Clear Spring Baptist Church where she worked as the Church Clerk for many years and sang in the Church choir. She was a long time Sunday School member of the TEL (Timothy, Eunice, Lois) Class and the Ruth class. She was a very faithful member when she was able to attend. She worked as a seamstress at Honea Path Shirt Company, Piedmont Shirt Factory, and Her Majesty Industries for over 44 years. Funeral services will be 11am Saturday, December 12th at Fletcher Funeral Service in Fountain Inn, SC, with receiving of friends one hour prior to the service. A private entombment will be at Cannon Memorial Park in Fountain Inn, SC. The family asks that attendees wear a mask and practice social distancing. In lieu of flowers, Ms. Callie Ruth requested that memorials be made to Clear Spring Baptist Church, 301 Bethany Road, Simpsonville, SC 29681 or to Meals on Wheels of Greenville, 15 Oregon Street, Greenville, SC 29605. The family would like to thank everyone for your love and kindness shown to Callie Ruth, especially during her last years in National Healthcare in Mauldin, SC. The family also thanks all the many healthcare nurses and workers at NHC Mauldin who provided care and love for Callie Ruth for several years.
