Obituary of Donald Richard Limoges, Sr.
Please share a memory of Donald to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Donald “Don” Richard Limoges Sr., 79, husband of Christine Hagan Limoges, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, December 10, 2020.
Don was born in Ogdensburg, NY to the late Leo Limoges and Margaret Ashley Limoges. He was a member of Temple Baptist Church and loved sharing the Gospel of his Savior. He enlisted In the Army in 1959 where he proudly served his country for eight years, including a tour of duty in the Vietnam War. Following his military service, he drove a truck for F.W. Woolworth for 18 years. Afterwards he was employed by W.W. Grainger and retired in 2003. He was affectionately known by his fellow truckers as “Yankee Mo”. He was also an avid woodworker who crafted a variety of items for friends and family. In 2011 Don overcame his battle with lung cancer and always cautioned others against smoking.
Don treasured his family and friends, especially his wife of 56 years, whom he called “sugar-plum”. He also cherished being “Papa” to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and was happiest when surrounded by his family. He was a friend to many and always willing to give others a helping hand. His life was an example of Matthew 5:16; “In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are a son, Donald Richard “Rick” Limoges, Jr. and wife Ginger; two daughters, Carol Limoges Roper and husband John; Lisa Limoges Johns and husband Mike; two brothers and their wives, Francis and Nora Limoges, and Greg and Kathy Limoges; two sisters, Karen Bogart, and Cathy Priest and husband Phil; six grandchildren, Lindsay Tripp and husband Josh, Lauren Lunsford and husband Bryon, Elise Roper, Cole Johns, Jacob Roper and wife Brianna, and Sadie McIntosh and husband Daniel; and four great-grandchildren, Blakely Lunsford, Ellison Tripp, Sloan Lunsford, and Hudson Tripp. He was predeceased by three brothers, Bob Limoges, David Limoges, and Maurice Limoges; a sister, Mary Senecal; and a great-granddaughter, Mills Hope Lunsford.
Funeral services will be 2 o’clock Sunday at Temple Baptist Church, officiated by Rev. Brett Aiken and Rick Limoges. Burial will be private. Beginning at 1:30 pm, the service will be live-streamed on FaceBook by Temple Baptist Church.
Memorials may be made to Temple Baptist Church Building Fund, 213 W. Curtis Street, Simpsonville, SC 29681.
