Obituary of Rev. William Louie Carver

Pastor William Louie Carver, 81, husband to Rosalie Pompon and the former Mary Catherine Gaines Carver, went to be with the Lord, Wednesday, December 30, 2020. Pastor Carver was born in Madison County North Carolina to the late Tolliver Clarence Carver and Ada Ollie Hensley Carver. He was a member of Rocky Creek Baptist Church and alumni to Baptist Christian University. He was ordained at Newfound Baptist Church in Leicester, North Carolina in November, 1958 and started his ministry at Island City Baptist Church, Island City, Kentucky. From Island City he then pastored Bentley Memorial Baptist Church in Lexington, Kentucky. He felt a calling to the mission field and moved with his family to start a ministry in Seoul, South Korea in 1974. He planted several churches as well as a Bible college. They are as follows: Sinnae Baptist Church, Seoul Faith Baptist Church, Gapyeong GyungBan Baptist Church, DuMil Baptist Church, and Sinnae Baptist Seminary. He then moved to Manila, Philippines in 1980 where he founded Bible Baptist Church. From the Philippines he moved his family to Pine Bluff, Arkansas. He pastored North Side Baptist Church and Harmony Baptist Church. He carried his ministry from there to Wichita Falls, Texas where he pastored Central Baptist Church. From Texas he moved to Chicago, Illinois where he then pastored Global Baptist Missions and retired in Greenville, South Carolina where he enjoyed being on the counseling staff for Rocky Creek Baptist Church. Pastor Carver earned his doctorate in 1983 in Philosophy from Baptist Christian University and in 1995 he joined the National Christian Counseling Association and became a clinical therapist. In 1995 he earned his ThD from Baptist Christian University. In 2000 he became a member of the Sarasota Academy of Christian Counselors and in 2007 a member of the International Board of Christian Counseling Association. In 2009 he became a Professional Life Coach and in 2020 he became a member and counselor with the American Association of Counselors. Surviving in addition to his wife, are a son, Tim Carver, three daughters: Pam Snyder-Cohen (Kevin) Charity Taylor (Chris) and Becky Welch (Mike): two brothers Julian Carver (Peggy) and Kyle Carver (Judy): two sisters, Christine Williams (Jack) and Barbara Hague (Wayne): seven grandchildren Mason Snyder, Sterling Tyner, Christian Hendon, Christian Taylor, Chynna Carver, Keaton Taylor, Addison Taylor, and a great grandchild, Blake Snyder. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Saturday January 2, 2021 at Rocky Creek Baptist Church: 1801 Woodruff Rd. Greenville, SC 29607. The burial service will be the following afternoon, Sunday, January 3, 2021 at 2 PM at Newfound Baptist Church Cemetery: 2605 New Leicester Hwy, Leicester, NC 28748.
