Obituary of Dillon James Bennett

SSG Dillon James Bennett, 32, husband of Abigail Gaunt Bennett for 5 years, went to be with his Lord on Saturday, December 26, 2020. Dillon was born in Greenville to James David Bennett, Jr. and Mary Ann DeSantis Bennett. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and currently served as a recruiter for the S.C. Army National Guard. Dillon enjoyed motorcycles and rode with the Patriot Guard on occasion. He played the trumpet and bugle, and collected time-pieces, but his favorite pastime was cooking on the smoker. Surviving, in addition to his wife and parents, are two sons, Joshua Bennett and Seeley Bennett; a daughter, Temperance Bennett; a twin sister, Elizabeth Stephenson; a brother, Byron Bennett; and a sister; Lisa Miller and husband David; and his beloved dog “Gracie”. Visitation will be 4-8 pm Monday. January 4 at Fletcher Funeral Service, Fountain Inn. SC. Burial Service will be 2:30 pm Tuesday, January 5, at Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church In Greenville, SC. Burial, with full Military Honors, will follow at Dolly Cooper Veterans Cemetery in Anderson, SC at 4:00 pm. There will be a Celebration of Dillon’s Life from 5-8 pm at Anderson National Guard Armory. Masks are required at all events.
