Obituary of Thomas 'Papa Tom" Gambrell

Thomas “Papa Tom” Leroy Gambrell, 88, widower of Judith Peckham Gambrell, went to be with our Lord on Wednesday, December 30, 2020. Mr. Gambrell was born in Vici, OK to the late Johnnie Leroy Gambrell and Edna Brady Gambrell. He retired from the US Air Force and was a founding member of GracePoint Church in Simpsonville, SC. Surviving is a daughter, Saundra Gambrell Simpson and husband Robert P. Simpson; two grandchildren, Kendra Garrett and husband T. Shane Redding and Erin Garrett; one great-grandson, Beckett W. Gadberry. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 12:30-1:30pm at Fletcher Funeral Service. Graveside services with military honors, will be held 2pm Tuesday at Graceland East Memorial Park 2206 Woodruff Road Simpsonville, SC, officiated by Pastor Ben Hill. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the benevolence fund at GracePoint Church, 319 West Georgia Road Simpsonville, S.C. 29681. Mask and social distancing will be strictly enforced to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Anyone who doesn’t feel comfortable attending the visitation is welcome to attend the graveside service outside.
