Obituary of Shirley Owens Williams

Shirley Owens Williams, 83, widow of Cletus Toy Williams, went to be with the Lord on Monday, January 4, 2021. Mrs. Williams was born in Fountain Inn, SC to the late George Abner Owens and Margie Adair Owens. She attended Furman University, and retired as an accountant at Dow Brand, Inc. after more than 30 years of service. Shirley was a member of Durbin Creek Baptist Church and sang in the choir during the years her husband Cletus served as music director at Beulah Baptist Church, Fairview Street Baptist Church and Durbin Creek Baptist Church. She enjoyed sewing and shopping, especially with Tony and Angie. She loved getting together with family, going to the beach and traveling the United States with her three sisters. Surviving are a son, Tony Williams and beloved fur baby, “Graci”; a daughter, Angie Eaton and husband Tim; three sisters Georgia Smith, Mary Ann Schultz, and Jewel Freeman; one brother Douglas Owens and wife Mary Ann; five grandchildren, Dustin Toy Whitfield and fiancé Heather, D. Michael Kay with Olivia, D. Ryan Kay, Dylan Eaton and fiancé Gracie, Devin Eaton and Christopher Whitfield. Visitation will be 1:30-3pm Wednesday at Fletcher Funeral Service. A private Entombment will follow at Cannon Memorial Park. The family would like to extend a special thank you to all of the prayer warriors for their devoted prayer during Shirley’s illness.
