Obituary of Robert "Bob" Putnam

Robert “Bob” Putnam, 90, husband to Patsy Ruth Williams Putnam for 70 years, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 17, 2021. Mr. Putnam was born in Greenville, SC to the late Thomas Carlysle Putnam and Chessie Ruth Waits Putnam. He retired as the Assistant Chief of Greenville City Fire Department and was a member of Five Forks Baptist Church. In Bob’s younger years he was a catcher for Mills Mill in the Textile Baseball League. He also enjoyed fishing, playing golf and loved going on bus tours trips with Patsy. Surviving in addition to his wife are four sons, Wayne Putnam, Kim Putnam and wife Anita, Gary Putnam and wife Pam and Bryan Putnam and wife Donna; five grandchildren, Craig Putnam and wife Krystal, Emily McDaniel and husband Rob, Austin Putnam and wife Shauna, Robin Huff and husband Tyler and Philip Putnam; six great-grandchildren, Makennah Smithhart, Jason Putnam, Cooper Huff, Brady Huff, Emmett Putnam and Nathaniel Frenna. A Celebration of Bob’s life will be 3pm Friday at Five Forks Baptist Church, officiated by Rev. Howard Foster and Dr. Tim Barnette. The family will receive friends one hour prior.
