Beverly Joyce Novak Baker, 81, wife of 32 years to James “Jim” Edward Baker, went to be with the Lord on March 19, 2021. Mrs. Baker was born in Cleveland, OH on December 16, 1939 to the late James J. Novak and Marie (Janousek) Novak. Both of her maternal grandparents and fraternal grandmother immigrated from Bohemia what is now the Czech Republic. Mrs. Baker was a homemaker for many years and later a dedicated employee of 25 years at Zircoa Inc. in Solon, Ohio where she worked numerous positions before retiring in 2005. She enjoyed playing golf, bowling, gardening, reading, browsing at art and craft shows, shopping, and playing card games, especially penny poker, with her family and friends. She loved visiting North Carolina beaches and the casinos in New York, Michigan, and North Carolina. Mrs. Baker moved to South Carolina in 2016 and joined Messiah Lutheran Church and was active with the Life Group. The Bakers were active members of Christ the King Lutheran Church in Twinsburg, OH prior to relocating to South Carolina. Surviving, in addition to her husband, are a daughter, Kimberly A. Lane and husband Greg of Fountain Inn, SC; a son, Timothy J. Hauser and wife Michelle of Chesterland, OH; two beautiful and talented grandchildren, Rachel M. Lane of Lakewood, OH and Jessica R. Lane of Birmingham, AL; three brothers in-law, Bill Baker and wife Melody, Tom Baker and wife Pat, and Richard Baker and wife Deby; and two cousins, Dolores McVeen and Ken Verbecky, and many friends in South Carolina and Ohio. The family will hold a memorial service on April 5 at 11 a.m. at Messiah Lutheran Church ( 1100 Log Shoals Road, Mauldin, SC) followed by luncheon at the church. A service in Ohio will be planned later. Memorials may be made to Messiah Lutheran Church (1100 Log Shoals Road, Mauldin, SC 29662) or Lutheran Hospice of South Carolina (429 N. Main Street #3, Greenville, SC 29601). A Celebration of Beverly’s life will be 11am Friday, July 9th at Christ The King Church, 10285 Ravenna Road Twinsburg, OH 44087.
