Obituary of Louise Hood

Ruth Louise James Hood, 77, widow of Jackie Donald Hood, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, April 18, 2021. Mrs. Hood was born in Greenville to the late Clyde James and Esther Louise Hamilton James. She was the owner and operator of Louise’s Beauty Salon for over 50 years. She enjoyed fishing and being in the outdoors. She loved yard sales and watching Little House on the Prairie. Louise absolutely cherished her grandchildren, and even created a memory book for each of them. Surviving are a son, Tommy Hood and wife Tena; two daughters, Deb Blackwell and husband Jim, and Pam Collins and husband Rickie; five brothers, Frankie James and wife Carolyn, Jessie James and wife Joyce, Larry James and wife Linda, Ricky James and wife Diane, and Steve James; three sisters, Carolyn Terry and husband Joe, Violet Neely and husband Franklin, and Linda Boren; five grandchildren, Angie Hembree and husband Dennis, Ashley Brown and husband Anthony, Jessica Poole and husband Jimmy, Miranda Roth and husband Erick; and Jaime Hood; eleven great-grandchildren, Tyler Blackwell and wife Asheley, Logan Timms and husband Dale, Jasper Brown and wife Ally, Jayda Brown, KK Brown, Parker-Grace Poole, Preston Poole, Riley Hopkins, Baileigh Roth, Bentley Roth, and Blakely Roth; and two great-great-grandchildren, Maddox Blackwell and Cole Timms. She was predeceased by a daughter, Rose Coker; three brothers, Walt Laudermilk, George James and Borge James; and a sister, Rita Faye James. Funeral services will be 1 o’clock Thursday at Fletcher Funeral Service. Burial will follow in Greenville Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service.
