I first met Sam in 1993 right after I started working at Palmetto Bank. I trained with him and we became fast friends. Our friendship lasted and grew much stronger over the years. He was one of the finest men I have ever had the privilege of knowing. I just learned of his passing today and I am sorry - so very sorry - about his passing. My condolences to you all. I will miss him, his laugh and most of all his friendship that I always counted on. Jeff Duncan

Sam was my most favorite Banker I have ever met. He always had a story to share, how much he loved his Dad and family. Truly a corner stone of Fountain Inn. He will always be a fond memory of a man who made banking look easy.

Lynn and family, When Lee called to tell me of Sam’s passing, I immediately called my sister Janet. She and Sam went to GC-O, LDHS, and started Clemson together. She was as heartbroken as I was. Sam was always a good friend you could count on. He was quick with a smile and was always willing to help in any way. My dad considered Sam to be a very good friend as both lived their love of the Lord. I know there is nothing I can say to ease your pain, but please know that you are not alone. Sam was a rare man among many. We pray for God’s strength to be your strength during this most difficult time. With much love, Dot Stoddard Turner

I am so sorry to hear of Sams passing. I have thought of him often since he left the board of commissioners for the South Carolina housing authority. When we got a chance we always talked “bottles”. He was a great man and surely be missed! Becky Price Commissioner SCRHA#1
