Obituary of William David Orr

Please share a memory of William to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
William David Orr of Piedmont, SC, went to his Heavenly home on May 14, 2021. He is survived by the love of his life for the last 40 years, Rhonda Hughey Orr. He was born to Hazel Revis and the late William Jackson Orr on May 9, 1956. David was an avid outdoorsman. He loved to hunt and fish, but he enjoyed it most when he was doing it with his sons: William Orr (Stephanie), Christopher Harrison (Stevie), and Joshua Kidd (Constance). The joy of his life were his 5 grandchildren: Anna Harrison, Demii Harrison, Rhyan Orr, Lilah Orr, and Sam Kidd. He is also survived by his 4 sisters: Sue Wells (Bill), Lisa Orr, Sherri Seay (Johnny), Amanda Revis, and his niece, Brittany Seay and nephew, John Seay. David never met a stranger. To know him was to love him. He enjoyed being with people and making people laugh. His life’s mission was to see others come to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ and put their faith and trust in Him. David lived out his days to serve the Lord. He loved to sing and led multiple choirs. He thoroughly enjoyed leading the children and youth in the local churches that he served in. He and his wife were currently serving at Central Independent Baptist Church in Central, SC. David would want us to make sure everyone that knows him also knows Jesus as their Lord and Savior. David’s physical presence will be immeasurably missed by all who love him, but we are sure this isn’t a goodbye, just a “See you later!” It is beyond a shadow of a doubt that we know that David’s faith has become sight. “We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord.” - 2 Corinthians 5:8 Fletcher Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. A celebration of his vibrant life will take place on Wednesday, May 19th, 2021 at 6:00 PM at Tanglewood Baptist Church, 5 New Dunham Bridge Rd. Greenville, SC 29611 with Pastor Will Finley, Pastor Johnny Seay and his son, Pastor William Orr officiating the ceremony. The family will receive friends following the service. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Anchor Baptist Mission International c/o Akbar Masih, 3232 Hendersonville Hwy, Pisgah Forest, NC 28768; or to McCall Hospice House, 1836 W. Georgia Rd, Simpsonville, SC 29680. The family is at the home of his in-laws.
