Obituary of Daisy Blanche Miller Smith

Daisy Blanche Miller Smith, 83, widow of James Leonard Smith, went to be with the Lord Saturday, May 15th, 2021. Mrs. Smith was born in Columbia, SC to the late Cyral Calhoun and Minnie B. (Weed) Miller. Daisy was a proud 1957 graduate and cheerleader of Parker High School. She married Leonard on February 2nd, 1963. They made their home on the Smith family farm in Fountain Inn. Daisy always enjoyed hosting gatherings for friends and family and eloquently decorating the farmhouse for these events. She worked for years in the proof department at Southern Trust Bank and later retired from General Electric Company. While Daisy and Leonard did not have any children of their own, they lovingly claimed many as their own, including Daisy’s twin sister’s children; Kathy, Kelly, and Jody, the Miller children, and Chad and Chase Hatcher. Daisy affectionately became “Nana” to many grandchildren. Daisy is survived by brothers Jimmy Miller and Steve Miller; and her brother and sister-in-law, Arnold and Betty Smith. She was preceded in death by her twin sister, Doris A. Garrick. A Celebration of Daisy’s Life will be 6 o’clock Tuesday at Hillside Baptist Church pavilion, officiated by Rev. Eddie Howard. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
