Obituary of Robert Haskell Thackston

Robert Haskell Thackston, 78, husband to Virginia James Thackston for 51 years, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 2, 2021. Mr. Thackston was born in Fountain Inn to the late William Pinkney Thackston and Elizabeth Leopard Thackston. Haskell was a proud Military Police veteran of the U.S. Army. He enjoyed hobby farming, antique tractors, and his grandbabies. Those who knew Haskell, knew of his grandchildren. His babies brought light to his eyes and laughter to his heart. Surviving, in addition to his wife Virginia, are two sons, Scott Thackston and wife Christina, and Marc Thackston and wife Meredith; one brother Alvin Thackston and wife Myra; two sisters, Madge Woods and husband Wayne, and Blanche Taylor and husband David; three grandchildren Hunter Thackston and wife Monica, Marc Thackston and wife Sydney, and Patrick Thackston and fiancée Madison; three great-grandchildren, Della Thackston, Nash Thackston, and Taytum Thackston; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 2 o’clock Saturday at Fletcher Funeral Service officiated by Rev. Eddie Howard. Family will receive friends an hour prior. Burial with military honors will follow in Graceland East Memorial Park.
