Obituary of Manning Richard Hamby, Jr.

Manning Richard “Dick” Hamby, Jr., 83, husband of Carolyn Wood Hamby for 63 years, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, June 1, 2021. Mr. Hamby was born in Greer to the late Richard Manning Hamby, Sr. and Juanita Waddell Hamby. He worked in construction management and was an alumni of LeTourneau University. Dick loved to draw architectural plans, he enjoyed reading and was a member of Simpsonville First Baptist Church. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are a son, Matt and wife Christina; a daughter, Cindy Ray; a sister, Debbie Few and husband Ben; seven grandchildren, Bill Duwe, Erik Duwe and wife Barbara, Kirsten Hamby, Brian Hamby, Brooke Hamby, Claire Duwe and Katie Hamby; and six great-grandchildren, Evan, Corbin, Jack, Emmett, Molly and Hayden. He was predeceased by a son, Mark Hamby; and two brothers, Morris Hamby and Phil Hamby. Funeral services will be private at a later date.
