Obituary of Phillip Byron Taylor

Phillip Byron “Phil” Taylor, 75, husband of Becky Armentrout Taylor for 26 years, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, June 15, 2021. Mr. Taylor was born in Greer to the late Lester Sim Taylor and Mae Ruth Cantrell Taylor. He retired from Mitsubishi and was a member of East Georgia Road Baptist Church. Phil loved music and sang in the choir. He also sang in duets with his wife. He was a fan of the Atlanta Braves and the Clemson Tigers. Being 6’10”, Phil was always asked “did you play basketball?” Surviving, in addition to his wife, are two daughters, Melody Patterson and Amanda Laws; two stepsons, Denny Pack and Dale Pack; a brother, Rev. Jerry Taylor and wife Sue; three sisters, Phyllis Sharon Lindsey and husband Rev. Bobby, Janice Fleming, and Pam Barnette and husband Johnny; nine grandchildren, Kyle Patterson, Dylan Patterson, Sarah Pack, Austin Byrd and wife Megan, Megan Walker and husband Jake, Leanne Holub and husband Steve, Karly Patterson, Daisy Byrd and Olivia Laws; and five great-grandchildren, Mylee, Gracie, Aron, Emma and Jaxon. He was predeceased by two sons, Greg Taylor and Scott Taylor; two sisters, Glenna Jones and Gwen Pace; and a grandson, Devin Taylor. Funeral services will be 11 o’clock Saturday at East Georgia Road Baptist Church. Burial will be in Cannon Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the church for 45 minutes prior to the service. Memorials may be made to East Georgia Road Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 189, Simpsonville, SC 29681.
