My deepest condolences to you and many prayers. Rick was a good friend and I will miss him greatly. He was always willing to listen and gave good advice when I needed it. There was always had a funny story that had me laughing anytime we spoke and he loved to tell me about his latest "food find". Rick was a very smart, tremendously talented at his job, and was a fountain of knowledge. SCC will not be the same without him.

Thirteen years ago last week a nasty hurricane couldn't even stop the meeting of two couples that became such great friends on a cruise for celebration of our birthdays. We will never forget how much you sounded like Gomer Pyle to us. We felt like we had known you both forever it was such a natural friendship for us. You and Ashley have been such a blessing in our lives and wonderful friends. All the common things we share from our birthdays being so close and our wedding dates so close and so many other things it has been so surreal sometimes . Just like out of a book or a movie. There will for sure be a great empty place unfillable by no other. We have the heaviest hearts after hearing of your passing. Thank you for capturing Dave and mines special day so perfectly with all your photography on our wedding day and of the sunset and full moon on our wedding day.
I will never be able to look at a bear the same. They will always remind me of you and give me a little smile remembering our joke about them. And I still can't believe you knew about my people the Lumbee Indians.
You will be missed and not forgotten thank you for allowing us the honor and pleasure to get to know you and share in fun times.
Dave and I offer our deepest heart felt sympathy and condolences to your precious sweet wife Ashley and the family. You all are in our thoughts and prayers.

Ashley, Kristin and Greg - I am so very sorry for your loss. I was in total shock when I heard of his passing. I worked with Rick in the HR department here at SCC and I have a lot of good memories. I could never get a straight answer from him - he would always have something funny to say. Drove me nuts - but it also made me laugh. :) My favorite memory of him is when he would do his impression of Karl Childers from Sling Blade - I can't believe I won't hear him talk like that again. After I left HR to work on the "academic side" at SCC - he would stop in and visit with me and share his adventures and of course make me laugh. He would always make fun of me for saying I was going to print something out or type something up. :) He was a good guy and I will miss him.
To the family - may God give you a peace beyond understanding during these upcoming days - and then the days after once things settle down - I pray that you feel His loving arms around you. Thoughts and prayers are with you all.

My sincere and deepest condolences to all of the family and friends. Rick was always a friend to me and always had kind and encouraging words and memories of vacations or things he had done to share with me anytime our paths crossed. He was always concerned about anyone and everyone he met. He always had your best interest at heart. We are deeply saddened with his passing but thank Jesus and our heavenly Father for the time he gave us Rick Teal here and I know he is in paradise now and we will meet again one day soon. God bless and Rick will always be remembered by many of us who knew and worked with him.

Rick’s family – you have my deepest sympathy on this staggering loss. Please know how much Rick was valued and admired by his co-workers. I hope these memories will bring you some comfort: Rick had a wonderful sense of humor. It was really nice to work with someone who could make you laugh on a regular basis. He made work fun. He was a truly trusted at SCC. His official title was Vice President, but he could have been called the Chief Councilor. He had an open-door policy and many, many people at the college aired their problems and concerns with him. He always listened and gave great advice. He was also discrete, so people knew they could speak honestly with him. He was a very, very talented HR professional. He provided great regulatory and legal guidance, but he also had a fine moral compass. He was very adept at balancing the best interest of the college and the needs of the employees and did so with great compassion.
He was definitely a foodie. When he had lunch at Miyako’s, there was always a side of BBQ eel. He swore it was delicious. I took his word for it. I’ll never see BBQ eel on a menu and not think of Rick. He was always planning a new trip and a new adventure. As soon as one trip was done, he and Ashley were planning another. And of course, every trip involved some great restaurant or food experience. If you wanted to travel somewhere, he was the go-to guy for getting tips.
I will miss him, his friendship, his humor, and his sage advice.

My prayers are with Rick’s family. He and I grew up together in Cheraw right around the block from one another. We had wonderful days of play together as kids. Rick was a great, kind classmate through all our school days together. I’m sure the Lord has welcomed him with open arms.

Rick and I worked together at the Cooper/Weller Plant in Cheraw, S.C. We also played on the Weller softball beam and were great at bench warming. We even got together once at my home and played (tried) guitar. We each had a Yahaha Acoustic Guitar. He was humble, had great sense of humor, and just a really great guy. RIP Rick. Maybe from your view in heaven you can look down at great eating places and new horizons for travel.
