Obituary of Rick Teal

Please share a memory of Rick to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Richard “Rick” Teal, husband to Ashley Teal, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, August 22, 2021 after a brief but fierce battle with cancer. Born in Cheraw, SC he was the son of the late Olin Franklin Teal and Mary Belle Brock Teal. Rick was the Vice President of Human Resources at Spartanburg Community College. He was an alumnus of Francis Marion and the University of South Carolina. Rick loved to travel and was known for always being on vacation. Rick was a “foodie” and loved to share pictures of the many types of food he tried during his travels. He had a never-ending sense of humor and always kept everyone laughing. He had a very adventurous spirit including scuba diving with sharks, sky diving, a rattle snake round up, along with many more. Rick was an avid Gamecock fan and a photographer. He was a member of the North Spartanburg Rotary and was named the 2020-2021 Rotarian of the year. Rick was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Laurens. Rick is survived by his wife and very best friend, Ashley Teal; a son, Greg Teal and wife Sasha; a daughter, Kristin Dixon and husband Michael; and his two granddaughters, Emma Dixon and Ella Teal. Rick was super proud of his son and daughter and loved being “Pa” while spoiling his granddaughters. Visitation for family and friends will be 6-8pm Thursday at Fletcher Funeral Service. A Celebration of Life will be 3 o’clock Friday at Fletcher Funeral Service, officiated by Rev. Bill Cole. Burial will follow in Cannon Byrd Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to: Faith Baptist Church 1607 Greenwood Rd Laurens, SC 29360 The family is respectfully requesting mask to be worn during service times.
