Obituary of Emma Johnson Bowie

Emma Mahaffey Johnson Bowie, 81, widow of Wayne Bowie, went to be with the Lord, Monday, October 18, 2021. Mrs. Bowie was born in Barnwell to the late Oliver Clyde Mahaffey and Mozelle Gilliam Mahaffey. She was Co-Pastor at Evangel Christian Fellowship of Mauldin. Emma was a soldier for God doing mission work in Russia and being active in the church through ministering and counseling. She loved her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, church family, and gardening. Surviving, are four sons, Butch Johnson, Brian Johnson and wife Donna, Bruce Johnson and wife Judy and Michael Johnson and wife Charlyn; four daughters, Donna Brashier and husband Danny, Brenda Johnson, Janet Thompson and husband Steve and Nancy Garrison and husband Randall; one step-son, Robbie Bowie and wife Tracie; a special niece, Melinda Hernandez; seventeen grandchildren; two step-grandchildren and twenty-three great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her first husband, William Joseph Johnson, Sr. and a sister, Dorothy Hutto. The family will receive friends starting at 12:30pm with funeral services at 2pm Thursday at Five Forks Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Crossroads Baptist Church Cemetery. Flowers should be sent to Fletchers Funeral & Cremation Services.
