Carol Dean was the first person to welcome me to Greenpond when we moved here in 1960. We became fast friends and spent a lot of happy times together, even when carpooling to National Guard along with Sammy Kay Woods and Charlie Owens. I will always remember those times.

Carol, you were such an important part of Riley’s life, and she loved you endlessly. Thank you for still including me in your heart and family after we all lost David. I will miss all the meals and time we spent together just talking and looking at old photos. It was an honor and privilege to help take care of you when your health started to decline. The last words you spoke when Riley and I visited just last week was “I love you”. I’ll always be grateful that Riley got to hear that, and I will carry those words in my heart until it stops beating. Thank you for loving me like a daughter. I hope you are somewhere special and beautiful, chain smoking, sipping on moonshine or Fireball, and watching the most exciting dirt track race you’ve ever seen. You were and are loved beyond belief. I can’t believe you’re gone, and can’t imagine how we are all going to carry on in life without you. Your amazing sisters jumped in to take care of you as soon as you got sick. Carla- you are such a wonderful person to have taken over all of the decisions, paperwork, the crazy doctors that made no sense, and doing a million other things while still grieving your brother. You are absolutely amazing and you will forever live in my heart. Elaine, you came running when help was needed, always prepared to spend the night to give your sisters a break. I could always see a tremendous amount of love in your eyes when you looked at Carol, or spoke about him. I’m so glad I got to know you better, and I love you dearly. DeNan, you did everything in your power to keep Carol comfortable and taken care of. You were always there when you were needed, and true love was shown in all of your actions when Carol needed you. It was a beautiful and touching site to behold. I love all of you from the great depths of my heart.
