Obituary of Walker Harling

William Walker Harling, Jr., 90, husband of the late Mary Alberta Baldwin Harling, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, December 22, 2021. Mr. Harling was born in Simpsonville to the late William Walker Harling, Sr. and Maggie Lee Boyd Harling. He was a member of First Baptist Church - Simpsonville. Walker taught the Caring Sunday School class for many years and served with the Gideon’s International Bible ministry. He found fulfilment in spreading the gospel and participating in mission trips. He was an alumnus of the Medical University of South Carolina and the owner/operator of Simpsonville Drug Company for 35 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Walker was an avid reader and sportsman who enjoyed tennis and jogging. He was a huge fan of the Clemson Tigers. He also enjoyed farming and gardening in his down time. Surviving are a son, Rev. Randy Harling and wife Sherri; two daughters, Bonnie Anthony, and Peggy Nibert and husband Gregg; five grandchildren, Ben Harling and wife Jill, Ryan Harling, Shaun Nibert, Van Nibert, and Maura Anthony; and two great-grandchildren, Walker Harling and Camryn Harling. He was predeceased by three sisters, Ruby Baskin, Gladys Anderson, and Roberta Hance. A Celebration of Walker’s Life will be 2 o’clock Monday in the worship center of First Baptist Church - Simpsonville. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12:30 – 1:45 p.m. Burial, with Military Honors, will follow in the Simpsonville Municipal Cemetery.
