Obituary of James Clarence Ashley

James Clarence “JC” Ashley, 76, went to be with the Lord on Monday February 14, 2022. Mr. Ashley was born in Donalds, SC to the late William Turner Ashley and Emma Louise Bratcher Ashley. JC was a Mechanical Engineer and retired from Kemet Electronics. He was a Mason and Hejaz Shriner and member of the Bellview Men’s Bible Group. JC also volunteered at the Dunklin Bridge Fire Department. Mr. Ashley was a member of Eastview Baptist Church. He enjoyed fishing and was an avid Gamecock fan. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren were his pride and joy. Surviving are a daughter, Susan Ashley Mewbourn (Ricky); mother of his children and friend, Eugenia Pressley Ashley; a son in-law, Markus Vinson; a daughter in-law, Dava Ashley; four brothers, Charles Ashley (Elaine), Carroll Ashley (Janice), Gene Ashley, and Earle Ashley (Bonnie); two sisters, Faye Burton (Joe) and Dora Lee Bowyer (Chuck); eight grandchildren, Johnny Mewbourn, Ashley Norwood (Michael), Dakota Mewbourn, Alivia Harper (Cedric Sullivan), Gracie Ashley, Katie Vinson, Christian Ashley, and Abby Vinson; eight great-grandchildren, Jamey, Lyndsee, Sydney, Amiyah, Austyn, Pressley, Bailey, and Blakelyn. He was predeceased by a son, James “Randal” Ashley; and a daughter, Amanda “Mandy” Ashley Vinson. Funeral services will be 1:30pm Tuesday at Columbia Baptist Church, officiated by Rev. Billy Slatten. The family will receive friends an hour prior to service. Burial will follow in Greenville Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, Memorials may be made to Columbia Baptist Church Youth Fund, 11321 Augusta Road, Honea Path, SC 29654.
