Obituary of Barbara G Ricket

Please share a memory of Barbara to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
On Monday, June 6th, loving wife, mother, and grandmother, Barbara G. Ricket passed away at the age of 79. Barbara was born to the late Otto Erich Boehme and Gertraute Ruth Clausnitzer Boehme on April 3, 1943 in Freital, Germany. In 1957 her family escaped Communist East Germany and settled in Bowling Green, Ohio, where within five years, she was completely fluent in English and was accepted at Bowling Green State University, where she met her future husband, Jim. Prior to having children, she worked for the telephone company as an operator, which she said was one of her favorite jobs. Barbara stayed home to raise her three children, then started watching children in the home, which turned out to be one of her greatest joys. She welcomed and loved those children like they were her own. Barbara is survived by her loving husband William James Ricket and her three children, Timothy Ricket and wife Cheryl,of Charlotte, NC, Brent Ricket and wife Lauren, of Meridian, ID, and Leah Riseman and husband Dennis, Brookline, NH. She is also survived by her brother Volker Boehme and his wife Pam of Taylors, SC, a sister of Detroit, Michigan and niece Kendra Welsh and her husband Billy of Freeport, ME. She is grandmother to surviving grandchildren Madelyn and Carter Ricket of Charlotte, NC, Hannah, Abigail, and Sarah Riseman of Brookline, NH, and Josh, Jessie and Eric Ricket of Meridian, ID. Barbara was a faithful Christian, loved to knit, and loved her family and friends. The funeral service will be on Wednesday, June 15 at Holy Cross Episcopal Church in Simpsonville, SC. At 1:00.
