Obituary of Sharon Golembesky

Please share a memory of Sharon to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Sharon Eileen Riggs Golembesky, loving mother, wife, daughter, sister, and friend, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 6, 2023, at 52, after a courageous battle with cancer surrounded by her loved ones at home. Sharon was born to Harold Clyde Riggs and Joyce Drake Riggs on October 31, 1970. After graduating from Lexington High School in Lexington, SC, Sharon earned her bachelor’s in education from Francis Marion University, where she was a devoted member of the sorority Alpha Delta Pi. Sharon met her husband, Tony, while attending college, and together they had four children, Luke, Katherine, Jake, and Rachel. Sharon was a diligent schoolteacher and, most recently, a Computer Lab Teacher at Simpsonville Elementary School. Sharon had a light-up-the-room smile and had never met a stranger. She loved watching her children play sports and was the ultimate soccer Mom. She loved scrapbooking, reading scripture, watching the Clemson Tigers play, teaching, chilling with her dog Millie and watching Halloween movies, but most of all, she loved being a Mom. Sharon is survived by her husband, Tony, two sons, Luke and Jake, two daughters, Katherine and Rachel; her parents, Harold and Joyce Riggs of Lexington, SC and brother Ron Riggs (Teresa) of Lexington, SC. Sharon was predeceased by her maternal grandparents Harry William Drake and Josephine Dubose Drake, of Cayce, SC, and her paternal grandparents, Russell Monroe Riggs and Sidell Poston Riggs of Manning, SC. A Celebration of Sharon’s life will be held at First Baptist Simpsonville, 3 Hedge St., Simpsonville, SC, at 3pm on Saturday, April 15, 2023. Bright color attire is encouraged; Sharon loved all things cheerful and colorful. Friends will be received by the family following the service. Please donate to Children’s Cancer Partners of the Carolinas, 900 S. Pine St., Suite F, Spartanburg, SC 29302; or North Georgia Wildlife Park & Safari, 2912 Paradise Valley Rd. Cleveland, GA 30528.
