When my mother married Billy Wood he took me in as a son. I was flown from Houston to South Carolina to stay with Grandma Mary and family while my parents were set to move from Houston. It was all new to me arriving at Grandmas house with all of these new people. Grandma Mary took me in as her own and it was that way growing up. She loved me so much and I loved her with all of my heart. I have so many memories staying at her house after school over the years. My first solar eclipse that I was old enough to understand was at the house. I saw the Challenger shuttle explode watching it on tv there and having Grandma explain it to me what happened as I was so young and didn't understand. She was always there for me and I couldn't ask for a better person in my life. I will always love you Grandma and I miss you so so much! I'll see you on the other side one day and I can't wait to give you a huge hug. Love you Grandma always!

My grandmother was one of a kind and full of life. She was a vibrant soul with the perfectly coordinated outfits to match. There’s no denying that I inherited her love for “collecting” clothes, shoes, and jewelry.
So many of my best childhood memories are with her. As a little girl, I remember how much I loved trying on her colorful heels. Over the years, her love for shoes never changed, and although she could no longer wear those beautiful heels, she always loved when I would wear mine. She would say “Ohh my, look at those beautiful shoes! Let me see how they look on me!” She’d slip off her slipper and then stick her foot out and wiggle her toes. She would sit there looking down, admiring them on her feet for as long as she could.
I also loved all of her special sayings. She would always say she was “Mean as a snake” and laugh. Anytime, I would ask how she was feeling, she would say, “Oh I’m doing good, Sugar. I’m as fit as a fiddle!”
I never thought I’d have to say goodbye so soon, but I am so thankful and proud to have been loved by her and have her around long enough to love on all of her great-grandbabies. And boy, did she sure know how to love!
I see her in many things that I do and will cherish those pieces of her that are a part of me. I will carry her with me forever and always.

Oh how I miss you. You were like my mother and I loved you so much and you loved me. After I married your son Billy, you took me and Wesley in your family with no problem, helped me raise Wesley, Rachel and Shelby. I miss the days we used to ride around and eat lunch and laugh when you wanted to take homeless people you saw on the street and feed and care for them. You were the kindest soul and I miss you so. Love Terri

Looking back on life, I think about how comforting it was to visit with Aunt Mary, how pleasant she was and how comforting it was to be in the presence of someone older, someone who had already walked where I have yet to go. There is an empty space in my heart now, one that can only be filled when we meet again in the presence of our Lord and Savior. Until then, Goodbye Aunt Mary. I love you….Robert.

My Mother was a wonderful woman, my inspiration, my friend. She told everyone she had the greatest daughter in the world. I told her she was the greatest Mother in the world! Mom told me her Father's favorite saying was "I ate two cats and swallowed a monkey!" She laughed every time she told me. When asked how she was doing, Mom always said, 'I'm mean as a snake!" My pain at losing Mom is softened by knowing that she is in Heaven with Jesus and her loved ones. I love you, Dearest Mother!

Mary was and will always be the sweetiest person, and funny. I remeber Mary asking me "what are you doing? Of course i would tell her. She also would ask how late will i be working then she would make this face, she would tell me not to work too hard and say "TAKE CARE SUGAR" when getting her ready for bed she always make silly remarks like " im naked" i miss Mary and her caring ways, when i hurt my arm she was so conerned and asked about it. I will miss sitting with her and talking and getting her ready for bed. She loved watching those birds outside out bed room window as well.in my heart you will always be sweet and very well loves Mary.

Ursula, I am so glad to hear about Mom's antics! Your words of encouragment to me in the past and now during this sad time, have meant so much. You told me my Mom's service was "a celebration, a home going...Celebration, she is with God and at peace, no more pain..." Thank you so much.
