Obituary of Mary Ella Hilliard Wood

Mary Ella Hilliard Wood, 88, widow of Kerry Kenneth Wood, Sr., went to be with the Lord on Monday, April 17, 2023. Mrs. Wood was born in Dupont, GA to the late Raymond Hilliard and Mary Mollie Young Hilliard. She lived many years in Inman with her family. She loved taking care of people and retired as a CNA with DHEC. Mary was an accomplished seamstress and had a talent for telling stories from her childhood in Georgia. She was the best mom a person could ask for and loved spending time with her kids and grandkids. She was a collector of antiques. One of her talents was making her friends and caretakers laugh. Surviving are two sons, Billy Sims with wife Terri, and Kenneth Wood, Jr.; a daughter, Karen Lockart with husband John; five grandchildren, Rachel Turner with husband Chris, Shelby Sims, Wesley Cox, Ella Wood, and Jacob Wood; and three great-grandchildren, Natalee, Ian and Luca. She was predeceased by a brother, Alvin Hilliard; and two sisters, Mildred Abood and Margaret Register. A Celebration of Mary’s Life will be 1 o’clock Saturday at Fletcher Funeral Service.
