Obituary of Sonya Gibert

Sonya Darlene Parker Gibert, 46, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, November 29, 2023.

Mrs. Gibert was born in Greenwood to Earl Lee Parker and Joyce Elizabeth Holmes.  She enjoyed dirt-track racing and drawing.  Sonya loved people and fellowship with her family and friends.  She was a collector of purses and jewelry.  Sonya was never found without her lip-gloss and painted nails.  She cherished being GiGi to her grandchildren.

Surviving are her father, Mitchell “Moonie” Roach; her mother, Joyce Edmonds; a son, Blaise Strickland with fiancé Kayleigh; two daughters, Lexie Bible with husband James, and Amber Strickland; five brothers, Steven Parker, Randy Parker with wife Robin, Brian Roach, Stanley “Bubba” Roach, and Tracy Wheeler with wife Amee; a sister, Mandy Bowen; seven grandchildren, Kenleigh Bible, Leeland Brewington, Hayden Bible, Keelani Huntington, Ayvah Huntington, Xander Bible, and Scarlet Blaise Strickland; and maternal grandmother, Lydia Holmes.  She was predeceased by her husband, Kenneth Scott Gibert; and a sister, Alice Roach.

A Celebration of Sonya’s Life will be 2 o’clock Sunday at New Beginning Church of God of Prophecy in Clinton.  The family will receive friends at the church for one hour prior to the service.  Burial will be in Pine Lawn Memory Gardens.
