Carol was my friend, we met at Church where we called ourselves "The Backrow Baptists". Carol had an amazing voice and I loved to hear her sing. One of my favorite times with Carol, came about during a "road trip" with our book club to Savannah. On our last day we toured the Bonaventure cemetery, and as we wandered thru an elderly man on a bicycle. rode up. He began telling us stories of the cemetery's guests, and telling us he was a Soul Escort, all the while weaving a reed rose that he gave to Carol saying " This is in memory of someone you lost". He went on to tell us the cemetery the gates would be locked soon. As we hurried off to our cars we looked back and he was gone! I know people will think HMMMMM, but I think, as we speak, Carol is throwing her huge purse over her shoulder saying "Winner, winner, chicken dinner" as that "Soul Escort" leads her thru the Pearly Gates toward Steve . Carol, we will miss you and cherish those moments that make us smile as we remember you.
