Carol Best Obituary

Carol Valo Best, 70, widow of Stephen N. Best, went to be with the Lord on Friday, April 5, 2024.

Mrs. Best was born June 22, 1953 in Hibbing, MN, to the late Clifford Wayne Valo and Margaret Lena Shere Valo. Throughout her life, along with the full-time job of being a mother, she assisted multiple organizations as a well-respected administrative assistant and was currently enjoying retirement. She was a member of Renovation Church in Simpsonville and enjoyed interacting with others in bible studies and the senior ministry. Carol was a talented crafter, especially when it came to sewing. She loved making quilts and sharing her love for sewing to honor friends and family on special occasions. Carol was known by many for her kindness and acceptance, along with her positive attitude in all circumstances. Carol was kind spirited, giving to various charities and organizations and was able to expand her love and faith on a mission trip to Thailand. Most of all, Carol cherished her family and loved being “Grammy”.

Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law, Mark Best and wife Katie; three grandchildren, Emma Best, Luke Best, and Evan Best; a brother, John Valo with wife Mavis; and a sister, Janet Ditmanson and husband Mark.

The family will receive friends 4:30-5:30pm Friday at Renovation Church, 611 Richardson Street Simpsonville, SC 29680. A Celebration of Carol’s life will follow at 5:30 Friday at the church. Burial will be in Graceland East Memorial Park at 11am Saturday.

Memorials may be made to Open Arms Hospice, 1836 West Georgia Road, Simpsonville, SC 29680; or The Cancer Society of Greenville, 113 Mills Avenue Greenville, SC 29605.
