Obituary of Shawn Patterson

1SG Shawn Ell Patterson, US Army Ret., 67, husband of Janet Lynn Moree Patterson for 37 years, went to be with the Lord, Saturday, October 12, 2024.

Mr. Patterson was born in Portsmouth, VA to Francis Russell Patterson and and the late Patsy Jean Gooch Patterson.  He was a member of East Georgia Road Baptist Church.  Shawn was a career Soldier of the US Army.  He was an Airborne Ranger, Jump Master, and Pathfinder.  He was a graduate of the Sergeants Major Academy and the German HeadStart CRS course.  Shawn was a graduate of the University of Phoenix.  He was a huge John Wayne fan and loved military movies and westerns.  He enjoyed traveling and spending time with Janet.

Surviving, in addition to his wife and father, are a brother, Rusty Patterson with wife Sandy; a sister, Lilana Kay Teabo with husband Dean; and his beloved caretaker, Rachel Masters.  He was predeceased by a brother, Linley Patterson; and a sister, Mannon Patterson.

A Celebration of Shawn’s Life, with Military Honors, will be 4 o’clock Friday at East Georgia Road Baptist Church.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
