Mary Elizabeth Allen Poole, 84, wife of Robert Carroll Poole for 68 years, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 23, 2025.

Mrs. Poole was born in Pell City, AL to the late Bill Henry Allen and Elizabeth Pauline Lightfoot Allen.  She was a member of Beulah Baptist Church and previously served as the Minister of Education at Mountain Creek Baptist Church.  Mary loved teaching children and served as the Child Development Coordinator at both Standing Springs Baptist Church and Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.  She enjoyed craft shows in Gatlinburg and collecting figurines of Jesus.  Mary said “her greatest joy in life was being Carroll’s wife”.

Surviving, in addition to her husband, are four sons and their wives, Michael and Frances Poole, Allen and Dr. Shannon Poole, Dan and Lisa Poole, and Keith and Nicole Poole; nine grandchildren, Elizabeth Garrett with husband J.P., Samantha Williams, Rosemary Carter with husband Jeremy, Stephen Poole, Brian Poole with wife Ashley, Jack Poole, Jacob Barber with wife Nervillia, Emily Franklin with husband Caleb, and Logan King; and thirteen great-grandchildren, Haley, Landon, Rosemary, Samantha, Fortunato, James, Jacob, Ethan, Ava, Landin, Clara Jane, Addie Kate and Eli.  She was predeceased by a brother, Henry Allen; and a grandson-in-law, Dan Williams.

A celebration of Mary’s life will begin at 2 o’clock Sunday at Fletcher Funeral Service.  The family will receive friends immediately following the service.  Burial will be in Rosemont Cemetery.
