I have only known Bob for the past 10 years or so, but we talked often during those years. He loved his Lord and prayed from a heart dedicated to Him. As others have said, he called me on my birthday and anniversary every year--and he did so faithfully for many others.
He praised his Lord even through the difficult battle with cancer, often encouraging me when I called to encourage him. Bob shall be missed here, but he will have a huge welcoming party there.

I knew Bob from the 5th grade in Shelburne. We went through school together and graduated in 1969 from CVU in Hinesburg. He had many family and friends in VT who will always love and miss him. He was a good man.

Bob Edwards, a Faithful Christian
I just got a text from my oldest son that my friend, Bob Edwards today went to be with the Lord. I knew that he was gravely ill as I prayed daily for him & sensed from the Spirit his declining condition. I had prayed just this morning that God would uplift him in healing or take him home. In His divine wisdom, our Gracious God did the latter for which I give Him praise & sincere thanks. My dear brother Bob is safe in the arms of Jesus at last.
I was his pastor in Vermont for eighteen years. We had some amazing times up there in the North Country. Let me share a few memories of Bob from “the good old days.”
Did you know that he called every person at that sizeable church on their birthday & prayed a birthday prayer over them? You could count on it like clockwork. He was truly a faithful servant to remember everyone else especially on their birthday & anniversary, yet I doubt that others returned the favor to him.
He also was integrally involved in each building project at Trinity Baptist Church including building the parsonage after we went there. He sent me an email each year on the anniversary of our move-in to that God blessed house just so I would not forget all the love invested by the church men.
Most folks remember Bob’s well-developed sense of humor. He loved to tease & he got his share of it back again too! He loved to tell about how that on one cold Saturday when we were working on the parsonage that Dean Gagnon said he would cook hot dogs for the crew. He did & Bob discovered that Dean used chemically treated wood to cook the hot dogs over. He teased Dean about that the rest of his time in VT!
Bob loved to tease Steve Poole too. They worked together on the HVAC crew at Trinity which had plenty of work to do through the years. Those two would have more fun & do more laughing than work, but it was Bob’s nature as a fun-loving guy to make those work crews fun as well as profitable!
Most folks did not remember that gentle Bob had been a street brawler before he got saved; at least that is the way he put it to me. I never saw that side of him except one time. At Trinity Baptist Church one Sunday morning we had Evangelist Hal Webb at the pulpit. A visitor to the church stood up & started shouting at the evangelist disrupting the service. I motioned the ushers into action & they had to carry the guy out of the service as he continued to loudly insult the evangelist & the church! As I got to the church lobby Bob came flying toward me with fire in his eyes. I grabbed him in a full bear hug to keep him from “cleaning that guy’s clock.” Just about that time, a policeman came in the door & removed the troublemaker which probably saved Bob from being arrested. He later thanked me for restraining him from doing something he would have regretted later. THAT was a close call.
Although Bob had a rough background, the Lord thoroughly saved him! He was an avid prayer warrior rising usually in the wee hours of the morning to pray for over an hour each day before work & duties. If you were on his prayer list, you are probably missing him right now because he faithfully called out to God for you & you knew it!
I for one miss those prayers by my dear brother already! I imagine him in heaven smiling & rejoicing with those brethren who he loved so much that went before him. But I also look forward to the day when we reconnect in eternity & I hear God say to him, “Well done, thou good & faithful servant.” He will not think he deserves it, but all who knew him will assuredly know otherwise!

I had the pleasure of knowing Bob when I was a young man growing up in Phoenix Arizona. We both attended the same church and had more than our fair share of laughs. Bob had a wonderful and sometimes warped sense of humor. He always found a way to brighten your day and share a story with you. He would start with a giggle and before you knew it you were laughing out loud. He had such a big heart and loved his Lord. Bob witnessed without holding back and always had you on his prayer list. I,like many of you always received birthday and anniversary calls faithfully. I will miss him and will look forward to that day when we are together again. He was one of a kind and I was very blessed to have him as a friend. Heaven is a better place today having him home.

A man of God, there is no question in my mind. When I first came to know the Lord Bob was there for me in my new walk.
Over the many, many years Bob always remained faithful with his walk, even when times became challenging as he shared with me.
Bob loved and showed respect to me when times of correction on my part was needed.
I have a unending appreciation for the love Bob had for me in his help with my walk with my Lord and my family.
I saw Bob's walk was not partial in that he accepted that we are all sinners and by the blood of Jesus Christ we are saved.
Bob nurtured and bathed me in knowledge of the Lord, as well as my family.
I truly see and feel the Lord working through Bob not only in his life but through him towards my life.
I am saddened by the loss of our brethren.
I will truly miss him, but also rejoice that he is in a better place.
Bob will go on living in our hearts and minds as I hope he does in yours.
We Love you Now and Forever ~ FC

Bob Edwards was an incredible man and am grateful to have known him.
He is one of the most sincere persons I have met and had the integrity to match.
Bob always put on a smile and made you feel like the most important person in the room when talking with him.
His love for the Lord was contagious and his relationship with God was something to take note of.
Bob was a praying man and I knew when he said he would pray that he would and he would gently follow up when the time was right to see what God was doing.
Through my years of knowing Bob he always called me on my birthday even long distance while i was in the service, I looked forward to call more than the get togethers and gifts.
Bob was such an encouraging person and would tell me to be honest with God in my prayers and not be concerned with appearance or being raw. Taking this advice has been one of the few things that has kept me seeking Gods face when time were overwhelming.
Bob was a servant, if there was a job to be done he would be there and was someone you could count on.
Bob was a great friend and often reminded me of this verse which i think of often;
Proverbs 4:23 says Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.
I could go on, but i want to end by saying Bob was faithful and know he has heard well done. Sad he is no longer with us but rejoicing as he is living with Jesus now.
Love you Bob and Thank you for being a 1 Cor 13 Christian and a true and faithful friend.
