I met Larry at Cryovac in Duncan years ago. He always had a smile on his face that would just make my day. We talked about the National Guard. My son enlisted with Larry and was overseas with their troop. Larry promised me he'd make sure Chad made it back home to me. And he did. I have thought about Smitty a lot lately. I'm sure Chad was there to welcome him into those Pearly Gates. Love and prayers to all of his family and friends.

I always considered it a honor to serve in the same company in OIF1 will a Vietnam Veteran. SSG Smith (loving known as Smitty to all of the 151 Signal Battalion) always made sure that soldiers has a coke, snack, and computer in his tent to make a very difficult time a little more bearable. He was a truly great soldier and person. Most of all he was a man of God who's faith always showed through all we went through. He will greatly be missed!
Your Friend,
Andy Robinson (CW4R)

We met Larry through the Bairds and eating at Carolina Fine Foods. For many years we've valued the friendship of an honorable, patriotic and often humorous man. We will miss Larry very much, and send our deepest condolence to his sons and other family.

My friend, my sidekick,my family,a great husband, a great father and grandfather. We always talked about riding our bikes again as soon as he felt better. Now hes perfect and we still wont ride. But I will ride with his memory and him being my guardian angel. I love and will miss you my friend.
