Obituary of Steven Dennis Blair

Steven “Steve” Dennis Blair, 71, husband of Thelma Blair for 50 years, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, December 12, 2020. Mr. Blair was born in Martin, KY to the late Billy Dixon Blair and Marjorie Elmo Jones Blair. He was an alumnus of the University of Kentucky and was a life-long radio broadcaster. Steve founded WRLV Radio Station in Salyersville, KY and later owned and operated WKCB in Hindman, KY before retiring at WFIS in Fountain Inn. He was a recipient of the Kentucky Broadcasters Association Community Service Award and was inducted into the Knott County Hall of Fame. Governor Julian Carroll appointed Steve a Kentucky Colonel. He was a member of Simpsonville United Methodist Church and served as a past president of the Fountain Inn Lions Club. Steve was a world-class story teller, a devoted husband, and a wonderful father and grandfather. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are a son, Chris Blair and wife Amber; a daughter, Lindsay Morlock and husband Darin; five grandchildren, Crafton Blair, Sailor Stroud, Seth Stroud, Mattie Stroud, and Rivers Blair; and a beloved cat, Scamp. Visitation will be 5-7 pm Monday at Fletcher Funeral Service. A Celebration of Steve’s Life will be 1 pm Tuesday at the funeral home, officiated by Rev. George Riser. Burial will be in Cannon Memorial Park.
