I was just a young boy of 15 when Gary taught me to fly at Cumberland Municipal Airport. I lucked out because he was the best of all the flight instructors I ever flew with over the years that followed and I have had many years of accident free flying. Here I am with him after my first solo, on my 16th birthday, back in 1972. I guess he would have just been 30 years old in this picture.
So sorry to hear of his passing.
