Obituary of Gary Kent Yutzy

Gary Kent Yutzy, 78, of Simpsonville, SC, husband of Sandra Leasure Yutzy for 52 years, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, February 23, 2021. Mr. Yutzy was born in Cumberland, MD to the late Roy Webster Yutzy and Beulah Olive May Yutzy. He was a 1960 graduate of Allegany High School and an alumnus of Frostburg State University. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, where he served as an aviation cadet. He was a 32nd degree Mason. Gary loved flying and retired after a 40-year career as a corporate pilot. He loved his family and spent his retirement golfing with Sandra. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are two sons, Grant Yutzy and Dana Rho of Montgomery, AL, and Garrett Yutzy and wife Emily of Simpsonville, SC; two sisters, Carolyn Yutzy Johnson of Westminster, MD and Yvonne Yutzy Shumaker and husband James of Frostburg, MD; two grandchildren, Hayden Yutzy, 9, and Nolan Yutzy, 6, of Simpsonville, SC; three nephews and numerous cousins and dear friends. The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and caregivers for making him comfortable during his final days. Thank you to Kindred Hospice and nurse Kathy who came into our home to take care of Gary. Gary was surrounded by his loving family when he passed. Graveside services will be at 2pm, Friday, March 5th at Dolly Cooper Veterans Cemetery in Anderson, SC with military honors.
